Hi,
I was just reading this article about the Toyota incident (http://www.safetyresearch.net/Library/BarrSlides_FINAL_SCRUBBED.pdf) and was wondering why this rule is advisory compared to MISRA C 2004 and MISRA C 2012?

Part of the aim of the next rewrite is to remove unnecessary differences between MISRA C and C++
Also MISRA compliance allows the compliance level to be raised
