Digests - did anyone try?
#1
Hi everybody,
did anyone of you try the digests function of this MISRA Bulletin Board ?
It seems to me that I got the message \"no posts\" (as usually :-) )although there was a post in a subforum of the misra-rules-forum on Dec 8 and I don't think I have been logged in since then.
(I selected weekly digest)

Digests are working and sending out both internally at MIRA and outside. I have a daily digest from every forum, just to make sure that it is working, as there have been a number of verbal reports that they are not coming through.

My digest options:
Format of the Digest: HTML
Show Message Text: YES
Show My Messages: YES
Digest Frequency: DAY
Show only new messages since last time I logged in: TRUE
Send digest if no new messages: YES
Time digest sent (based on time zone in your profile): 1 PM
Maximum characters per message in digest: 150

If this doesn't work for you, then the chances are that your email system is not allowing them through, although I have had no bounce replies…

I recommend setting

Show only new messages since last time I logged in: FALSE

This means your digest will contain all new posts, regardless of if you visit the BB or not.

My options are set to (as copied from the digest e-mail)

Format of the Digest: HTML
Show Message Text: YES
Show My Messages: YES
Digest Frequency: DAY
Show only new messages since last time I logged in: FALSE
Send digest if no new messages: YES
Time digest sent (based on time zone in your profile): 1 AM
Maximum characters per message in digest: 600

I think I found where a confusion was: by default, digests are NOT turned on. Yet the way the button on the digest form was worded implied that you needed to do something in order to change the displayed settings, so you might reasonably assume that if you were happy with the settings then all was well and you'd get a digest. Not so!

Now, if you don't have any settings in the database for the digest, the form prompts you to create an entry, whereas, if you do have an entry then it prompts to change it.

If folks still have problems, then PM me, please.
